As entertainment at your house, you could go simulate blowing up asteroids, or fighting aliens, or slaying a dragon, and you could never do that before.

If you were a teenager in the ’80s, … you were part of the first generation to have a home computer in your house. You’ve referred to the ’80s as the birth of geek culture.

I think maybe that’s what sets apart the ’70s and ’80s kids, is that in the ’70s, regardless of where you lived in the country, you watched the same movies, and listened to the same music, and played the same video games, and had the textbooks at your school. But by then, even if you lived in a small town, we got to see Back to the Future when it came out. It's not like I was … well, I was being raised in the middle of nowhere. … But I mean, I got an Atari for Christmas the year they came out, and my parents got me a TRS-80 for my 15th birthday.

I feel like I had to strive a little harder to get it, so maybe I appreciate it a bit more.
